Pledge rehashed

Filed under: RantsJeremy @ 2:27:06 PM

Its odd that this has slipped through the NewsWires.

Maybe because there are no pyrotechnics, or explosions, or just American Apathy:

Pledge of Allegiance: “under God” is still unconstitutional.

In a vote of 15 to 9 vote, the 24 members upheld the original ruling and is bound for the Supreme Court.

War Doesn’t Work, Inspections Do

Filed under: RantsJeremy @ 11:13:39 AM

I read a book recently, where an Iranian/Irqaqi military unit came into the US with Biochemical Weapons. (A Variant of the ebola strain) and released it into the air filtration systems of several major conventions. (You know, Geeks, Trekkies, Cars, Tools, Trade, Weapons, etc.) and infected all the participants.

In three days, those participants went back to their homes, and infected their families.

Their families infected their schools.

And pretty soon the United States had a death count which made the WTC count look like pennies on the dollar.

Granted, this story was fiction, but it can be done, and it can be done easily.

War doesn’t work, Inspections do.

MOZILLA 1.3!

The boys and girls at Mozilla.org done it again and released Mozilla 1.3.

This appears to be a pretty neat release:

  • Junkmail filtering in Mozilla Mail (Mozilla is starting to become my favorite E-mail reader)

  • Improved Pop-Up Blocking (not that I had any issues with previous pop-up blocking)
Aside, when will the Marketeers learn that we are trying to do everything possible to avoid their spam? So STOP SENDING IT TO US!

  • Image Resizing (while I’m not a big fan of this, I am now running my various PCs at higher resolutions and images are becoming smaller and smaller, this should help.)
  • Dynamic Profile Switching (While I don’t use multiple profiles, this is a big change for the profile sections.)

Everybody sing along now:
To the Tune: Godzilla. By Blue Oyster Cult

    Oh No!
    IE’s got to go!
    GO GO MOZILLA!

We’ve outlawed Iraq Forever – We begin Bombing in 48 hours

Filed under: PontificationsJeremy @ 6:50:37 PM

We all remember famous sound check from Ronald Reagan.

“My fellow Americans, I’m pleased to tell you today that I’ve signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes.”

Today, President George W. Bush proclaimed a different ultimatum:

Introverts vs. Extroverts

Whenever I take a personality test, I know two things are certain:

  • I’m an Introvert
  • I’m a direct thinker (Think fast, move fast, think about yourself more then other people around you.)

Then I saw this article in my daily trolling of the internet:

Caring for your Introvert

At first I thought, “Oh no, not another lame analysis by some BA wannabe in Psychology”

But I read it, and the first paragraph:

Do you know someone who needs hours alone every day? Who loves quiet conversations about feelings or ideas, and can give a dynamite presentation to a big audience, but seems awkward in groups and maladroit at small talk? Who has to be dragged to parties and then needs the rest of the day to recuperate? Who growls or scowls or grunts or winces when accosted with pleasantries by people who are just trying to be nice?

With that, I knew this guy knew what he was talking about:

Movie Review: A Beautiful Mind

I’ll be honest, I was a little sceptical of this movie. However, both Netflix and MovieLens both suggested I would give A Beautiful Mind 4 out of five stars.

In essence, this movie was masterfully written.
It had the sub-plot of Fight Club, without the violence.
It had the caliber of Rainman, and packed the same punch as Dustin Hoffman could deliver.
It had the intellectual stimulus of Stand and Deliver.
It had the suspense of Conspiracy Theory without the lame storyline.

I hate Cell Phones

From the "Things-that-piss-Jeremy-off" Department

As I’ve attested to before, I’ve been through many places in this great country of ours, and I can safely say, Tucson has the worse traffic. (Philly is second, because of all the poor road conditions, but at least there, people know how to drive.)

Anyways, what do you do when you mix Cellular Phone technology and Tucson Rush Hour traffic?

On Conquest

In my limited lifetime, the United States has gone to war three times. (I count Vietnam, since it ended around the time I was born.) Additionally, there have been a plethora of police actions, the largest of which was the arrest of Manuel Noriega in Panama.

Everytime this country goes to battle, I pontificate on whether this is a just war or not. This time, God put on my heart to review my previous study of Political Philosopher John Locke.

In this review, I was reminded of John Locke’s Second Trieste of Civil Government, specifically, Chapter 3: Of the State of War

I’d like to highlight a few of my observations here:

March 24, 1996

Filed under: PersonalJeremy @ 7:11:43 AM

On this day, seven years ago, something wonderful happened.

It was something wonderful, something which changed my life and something which I will never forget.

Something which caused me to recognize this day, rather then my own Birthday.

It was the day I met Jesus Christ.
