GO GO MOZILLA!

Yesterday, the boys and girls at Mozilla.org announced the MR of Version 1.4!

This looks to be the last of the major releases for the Mozilla Suite for awhile and their development time is going towards thier smaller projects: Their Lite Browser (Firebird) and their Mail Client (Minotaur).

So, I sing the song one more time:

Biography Pop Quiz

Filed under: PontificationsJeremy @ 10:13:04 PM

This is a quote for a Presidential Biographer:

“[This President] was not passive as much as he was a shrewd master of indirection, speaking in homespun homilies rather then regid directives, temporizing with characteristic caution, until the time came to act.”

Also, the same President described as:

    “Gorilla”
    “Third Rate Lawyer”
    Devoid of Presidential Stature
“a man in the habit of making coarse and clumsy jokes”
    “the original baboon”
    “a western hick”
    “unexceptional”
Someone who used his uncomfortable native vernacular, and slow drawl

Any guesses? Sound familiar?
I will not say if this President is still alive, or if he was likely President in your lifetime, or not.

  • George H.W. Bush?
  • Andrew Jackson?
  • Lyndon Johnson?
  • George W. Bush?
  • None of the Above?

I’ll give you another hint:
He was the sitting President during our greatest national crisis.

Need another hint?

His name was mentioned many times during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The Spirit of 1776

Filed under: Mindless BanterJeremy @ 10:28:14 AM

Eleven Score and Seven Years ago: (Two Hundred and Twenty Seven years ago.), the Continental Congress officially adopted the last draft of Declaration of Independence. The first document of its kind, and quite possibly the final political manifestation of the European Renesance.

It was a hostile document, designed to do one thing, cleave the United States from the Brittish Empire.

What would come of it? The United States is living history of it.

200th Post

Filed under: AdministriviaJeremy @ 10:05:46 AM

As you can tell from the header, this is the 200th post on JeremyGilby.com.

When I reorganized this site on January 20th 2002, after moving the hosting to iPowerWeb, there have been 200 peices of mindless banter displayed here. Still, I’m keeping at a pace slightly more then 2 postings a week. (Even though two days I posted twice) and I deleted one Post.

I thought I would share a few of the fan favorites, and of course, some of my own.

FYI

If you havn’t noticed, I’ve been posting a lot to Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com the past few weeks.

In fact, this post marks 15 straight daily posts, the first of this streak being June 22, 2003.

Even more interesting, over the past 33 days, (June 3rd, through today) Jeremy-Gilby-Dot-Com has seen 26 posts.

So far, I think its a pretty good pace.

This also means, you have probably missed some pretty good stuff.

So I suggest you check out the Archives for what you missed.

Share and Enjoy!

Origins of the GrillMaster

Filed under: PersonalJeremy @ 10:17:01 AM

People who know me in real life, know that I enjoy grilling at Bar-B-Ques. And, I’m pretty good at it.

Give me some charcoal, mesquite, and maybe some alluminum foil, and I can cook pretty much anything to satisfaction. [Meat, Seafood, Shellfish, Turkeys (the big ones), Vegetables (Corn on the Cob, Potatoes, and Onions are a specialty), marinated, unmarinated, spiced, natural, whatever.]

Most of my friends call me, “The GrillMaster”, and mean it.

At large events, I’ve been asked, “Why do you like grilling so much?”

And I’ll tell the story, but usually the inquirer is more interested in the peice of food I’m cooking for them, and leave before the story is complete.

Which doesn’t bother me, cause I have a rule when it comes to grilled food, such as steak, which is part of the story I will share below:

Slow day today, as I prep for some long awaited time off.

I torqued around the GuestBook Pages in the Contact Section (a.k.a. Why are you here?).

I cleaned up a few spelling mistakes and added a description, here and there.
And more imporatantly, I gave credit, where credit is due, to the backend database service which powers my custom guestbook.

While, further E-mail conversation took place, and both parties left feeling thier issues were addressed civilly, I think I should take the time to point out some tips when starting an E-mail debate:

U.S.S. Ronald Reagan

Filed under: SuperCarriersJeremy @ 10:50:02 PM

July 12, 2003.

Marion (Peirce) Gilby is about to celebrate her 80th Birthday, and the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan is commisioned. Meaning, the “U.S.S.” was officially added to the ship’s name.

Before today, it was the “Ronald Reagan” since it was christened on March 4, 2001.

Before that, it was just CVN-76.

As of today, the U.S. Navy officially “owns” the boat.

Human Dynamics: A Principle Approach

Filed under: Mindless BanterJeremy @ 1:44:46 PM

I was in a discussion last night regarding Personality Types and Taxonomy. And I was reminded about Human Dynamics, which is a different kind of taxonomy we use at work. (Well, at least we USED to.)

Its a different kind of profiling, which investigates how a person processes information, rather then how they interact with the rest of the world.

Human Dynamics: The Physical Mental Dynamic

Filed under: Mindless BanterJeremy @ 7:36:25 AM

As I discussed in the previous post: Human Dynamics: A Principle Approach, there are 3 Centers for personality.

  • Physical (15% of the population)
  • Mental (5% of the population)
  • Emotional (80% of the population)

And there are 5 major Personality Dynamics:

  • Physical-Mental
  • Physical-Emotional
  • Mental (Mental-Physical)
  • Emotional Subjective (Emotional-Physical)
  • Emotional Objective (Emotional-Mental)

The Physical Center is the more systematic, or more fuctional mindsets of the three.

The Physical Principle is associated with the body and the translation into action of what is thought and felt. It is expressed in a person’s capacities for:
    reliability
    productivity
    making
    doing
    actualizing

Physically centered people are usually pragmatic and often see to it that tasks are completed to their fullest. They experience everything and are systematic in their thinking.

Emphases:

    actions
    operations

Process:

systematic (by a comprehesive process of gathering, linking, and seeing the interconnections among relevant data)

I’d like to highlight the qualities of the Physical-Mental
