Oh, its still on!

Filed under: FootballJeremy @ 12:16:17 PM

Yeasterday, the Philadelphia Eagles beat the Carolina Panthers.
Those evil Cowboys lost to the Miami Dolphins on Thursday, in a great Thanksgiving gift from Miami.

Now, all of the sudden, the Eagles now are not only the Leaders in the NFC:East, but are tied in leading the entire National Football Conference, with the St. Louis Rams.

No, I can’t believe it either.

Slashdot Green!

Filed under: Mindless BanterJeremy @ 10:01:41 AM

Okay, so I cheated, its not really my color, but I don’t care, its the best.color.ever!

you are slashdot green
#007777

Your dominant hues are green and blue. You’re smart and you know it, and want to use your power to help people and relate to others. Even though you tend to battle with yourself, you solve other people’s conflicts well.

Your saturation level is very high – you are all about getting things done. The world may think you work too hard but you have a lot to show for it, and it keeps you going. You shouldn’t be afraid to lead people, because if you’re doing it, it’ll be done right.

Your outlook on life is slightly darker than most people’s. You try to see things for what they are and face situations honestly. You’d rather get to the point than look for what’s good.

Eagles keep winning

Filed under: FootballJeremy @ 1:47:09 PM

As I always say, my two favorite teams in Football are the Philadelphia Eagles and whomever is playing the Dallas Cowboys.

This week, I had an easy time.

The Philadelphia Eagles embarassed the Nasty Cowboys.

Current Politics and the Military’s Opinion

Filed under: RantsJeremy @ 12:26:03 PM

As the election comes closer and closer, I fear that this site will slowly become more political and opinionated in nature.

Darn.

Anyways, there a big stir about a recent ad campaign by Democratic Candidate Dennis Kucinich.

The ad, is obviously an attack at the Bush Administration, inciting an unhidden anti-business agenda, and anti-Bush doctrine. However, after listening to some opinions from military blogs out there, there was soemthing more.

So what does the military think of all this anti-Bush, Anti-occupation, blather coming from the Democratic Candidates. (As you know, I hold the military very high in my opinion. As they are the first and last line of defense of this great nation. When they speak, I listen.)

Steve McQueen: 4, the Other Guys: 6

YAY! Another Victory for Steve McQueen!

As you recall from Previous Posts. I’ve a big fan of Steve McQueen, and I’m astonished that as he’s mostly cast as a protagonist, he’s not always the winner in his movies.

I’ve recently added a new McQueen Movie to my Steve McQueen awareness:

  1. The Great Escape
  2. The Magnificent Seven
  3. Bullitt
  4. The Thomas Crown Affair
  5. The Sand Pebbles
  6. The Cincinnati Kid
  7. Hell is For Heroes
  8. The Towering Inferno
  9. The Getaway
  10. Papillon

The Angry Left rebounds

Filed under: Mindless BanterJeremy @ 1:21:30 PM

After Saddam’s capture, the Angry Left has been back to the drawing board and saying some pretty dumb things:

  • Saddam Hussein has nothing to do with the “War on Terror”
  • We were supposed to be after Osama Bin-Laden
  • The Global Community needs to do this work, not the US.
  • Bush is a liar, Iraq does not have weapons of Mass Destruction

So let me address these one at a time:

Book Review: The Guns of the South

I’ve been reading this book for well over five years.
Yes, Five Years. It was so slow reading for me, it was miserable, so miserable, I picked up other books to entertain me (See previous Book Reviews). But I was adamant to finish it, and last night I was able to.

The Guns of the South by Harry Turtledove.

The book had a great and interesting premise, but beyond that, it was a miserable read for me.

Today in the Cubicle Jungle, one of the Senior Managers in my Department must have had the “It’s Christmas Eve and I’m bored out of my mind” bug and was scoping the internet for the answer to what alcohol goes best with eggnog?

So he goes to google, and types a question and he stumbles upon this:

The Jeremy R. Gilby Eggnog Mixture

This particular senior manager is new to the company, so he was obviously unaware of my Web presence. He was astonished.

What a difference a year makes

Today is Christmas Eve. Last year, at this time, I was in Pennsylvania, and it was snowing:

Taking a Trip Down Memory Lane

Today, in Arizona, the temp says 68, but it feels like 80. I’m walking around in a short sleved polo (From work) and driving with my windows down, cause I don’t want to turn on the AC in my car.

Well, I always said I prefer it to be too warm then too cold.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Guess who is in the news, (Hint: He’s still a colonel)

Now that the United States has opened a six pack of Whoopass in Iraq (and called in Shockinac [Shock and Awe for your non-Michigan people]), caught the Mustache (Saddam who sane?) and made Syria, France, and North Korea look twice, our favorite Dictator Colonel Muammar Qaddafi has possibly come to his senses and said the following:

I will do whatever the Americans want, because I saw what happened in Iraq, and I was afraid.”

I think the story is best told by a great sage of our time, Mr. Joe Bob Briggs and his article in United Press International.

Auld Lang Syne

Warning: Reminiscent Mindless Banter below

It might be a artifact of my generation (and younger) but few of my friends actually know all the words to Auld Lang Syne, and even less know what the song means. I remember singing this song on New Years Eves of long ago, Mom was quick to teach Ang and I this song. But maybe the trepidation of Generation X and younger to learn this song was the vaccuum of time between now, and when Guy Lombardo introduced the “new holiday song”, which he himself had enjoied on New Years Eve since 1929.

But a little preface:
Auld Lang Syne is of scottish origin, and is best translated as, get this, “As Time Goes By“.
