Back in 1997, my mom was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. When I first heard of this disease, I knew nothing about it, let alone how to spell it. (That has all changed). My family, Back in PA, is participating in a worthwhile MS Walk, and would greatly appreciate your financial support.
My Dad is captian of the Team “Sylvia’s Scooters”, My Mom (Sylvia), my sister, my brother-in-law, and my new niece, are also participating.
I added another Steve McQueen movie to my viewed collection
As you recall from Previous Posts. I’ve a big fan of Steve McQueen, and I’m astonished that as he’s mostly cast as a protagonist, he’s not always the winner in his movies. And this latest one does not help his record. (Not that thats a bad thing)

Either Monsoon Season is early this year, or there is something wrong with the weather down here in the Sonoran Desert.
After weeks of unusually warm weather, (Low to Mid 90s) we hit a cold spell (50s and 60s) and the rain has been coming down (making it feel even colder)

Thanks for changing your clocks everybody. Now I’m back to California Time, instead of that New Mexico Time.
Another Aside: (You should have changed your clocks last night.)
Offer void in Arizona, Hawaii, The eastern time zone portion of Indiana, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa.
Sorry for the downtime. Been dealing with a rather annoying computer issue here at work.
Searchy Fun is coming, don’t worry, I just haven’t had the time to think about it too long.
WARNING: Graphic Document Below
My world changed this morning.
Just last night, I was thinking about how my Driving behavior needs to change. I need to calm down behind the wheel. I need to stop being so frustrated at traffic, less skilled drivers, everything.
On my drive to work this morning, I was not 45 seconds out of my driveway when Reality broke through my Post-MTV Generation worldview.
And a little girl caught a frightening glimpse of eternity.
The results are in, the lights are set, its officially time for the unveiling of the March Searchy Fun results!
For those who came in late, these are the top 20 search strings used to find Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com from various search engine devices around the World Wide Web.

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the universe.
The word “genius” isn’t applicable in football. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein.
Since I’m away from home, I’ve often celebrated Thanksgiving and Easter with my close friends here in Tucson. (Who are also in the same boat.) Some are married, some are single, and we all bring other friends to dinner so its a great occasion. With some rather interesting conversation brewing at the various tables.
Here are just a sample.
And I’m not including contexts.

How come the people complaining about this, are the ones who WANT to look to other nations for solutions to our problems?
Think about it.
I thought, in the spirit of April 15, Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com decided to report on a neat little feat of the Bush Administration.
Surprisingly its BEFORE April 15th. I missed it!
It was April 11!

I saw this article running around the net last week, and I’m finally getting around to posting about it.
The Brother-In-Law sent me pictures of the big MS Walk that my family participated in.
First, I want to thank everyone who sponsored Sylvia’s Scooters. Dad tells me this was the best year the team has had in raising money to fight Multiple Sclerosis.
To Quote Dad:
Thanks to all for the MS support. Sylvia’s Scooters surpassed their goal and raised over $2,000 for 2004, our best year yet. Pictures are included. Our second highest fund raiser was 8 week old Rachael.Team members in the picture are:
Joe Tobey
Rachael Tobey
Angela Tobey
Sylvia Gilby

Are you like me, do you like to browse the web for news, sports, whatnot, and you are frustrated with the LAG you suffer between pages. And you later find that its becuase of the rampant advertisements on these sites?
Do you look at the wares they are selling?
Do you click on those annoying flashing devices cluttering your text?
Should you have to see it?
I think I have a solution.

You may remember my mindless banter about the quagmire being made about Google’s new venture GMail.
Tim O’Reily (the CEO and founder of O’Reilly & Associates, my favorite source for all things in technical manuals) echoes my thoughts, but sounding much more educated then myself:
For those of you who are fortunate, and do not know, Air America is the “new” All-Liberal All-the-time Radio Talk show.
I’ve been casually watching this slow moving train wreck of a media outlet, and I’ve yet to be impressed.
The only thing impressive about this farce is its complete exercise of mis-management.

From Best of the Web Today:
Hey, whatever happened to Saddam anyway? The German news agency DPA tells us he’s still in an undisclosed location not of his choosing. The erstwhile dictator is in solitary confinement, the paper reports. He is “writing daily, always demanding pens and paper.” Oh, and “he still thinks he is the president.” Even Al Gore got over that.
I’m always a sucker for an AlGore vs. Saddam joke.
Today, is Earth Day (but please don’t confuse this with International Earth Day which is on March 21, [March 20, on Leap Years].)
My question to you is, do you really care?
Personally, for me, I’m tired of hearing about the end of the world that keeps getting pushed farther into the future because the numbers don’t match up with what was predicted 10 or 20 years ago.
Can’t these people just admit, “Thank God we were wrong!“?

From Peggy Noonan’s Collumn on Opinion-Journal-dot-com, yesterday.
Which is why [Kerry] isn’t gaining traction, or gaining purchase on the president. The Democrats and their nominee say on one day that Mr. Bush ignored terrorism, and on the next that he exaggerated the threat. They say his administration didn’t give enough time to planning Iraq, then they say he was obsessed with Iraq. They say he’s dimwitted and gullible, then they say he’s evil and calculating–he cooked Iraq up in Texas, in Ted Kennedy’s phrase.
You know why they can’t define what’s wrong with Mr. Bush? Because they don’t even know what’s wrong with him beyond that he is not them, not Mr. Kerry, not a Democrat.
I’ve seen this behavior, and came to the same conclusion. Its frustrating how blatantly antagonistic Kerry and the Democrats have been behaving as of late.
My worst fear is the Voting Public does not see it the same way.

Well, you learn something every day, don’t ya?
I really can’t put this into my own words, I’ll let the article speak for itself.
Today, During the Abortion Right’s March on D.C., which I’m sure is sponsored about Planned Parenthood, I was encouraged to read an article by Dawn Eden.
I suggest you read it too.
Hat tip to Nathan.
As the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk and U.S.S. John F. Kennedy approach retirement, the end of the non-Nuclear Supercarrier approaches. This affords us a major problem in the Navy’s carrier deployment.
Currently, the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk Strike Group is homeported in Yokosuka, Japan, and serves as the only continuously forward-deployed group in the fleet. As Yokosuka is unable to host a nuclear carrier, the United States will loose a vital strategic position in the next 10 years.
So now there is a debate on where the next forward deployed base will be?
Guam or Hawaii?

I’m sorry but is this really news?
I’ve reached a turning point this week at work. For the past three day, including this one, I’ve taken a different approach to my job, and my working relationships. In a way, I’ve put other people’s work above my own. It was a risk, but three days later, it definitely paid off.
Instead of serving myself, I’ve chosen to serve others.

This is screaming around the net, so I’ll play too:
1. Grab the nearest CD.
2. Put it in your CD-Player (or start your mp3-player, I-tunes, etc.).
3. Skip to Song 3 (or load the 3rd song in your 3rd playlist)
4. Post the first verse in your journal along with these instructions. Don’t name the band, nor the album-title.
It’s been 40 days since I’ve heard from you
This waiting game you put me through
I feel the silence killing me day to day
Losing hope I lose myself
Its got me thinking there’s someone else
We need to talk you give me metaphors
By the way what are you trying to say?
Man, I need to listen to this playlist some more.
