A Contrast of Two Presidents

Filed under: PontificationsJeremy @ 11:00:12 AM
From the "Left-brained-people-are-right-minded" Department

After this whole re-expose of Watergate, with the outing of Deep Throat, people are talking about the late Richard Nixon. Describing him as the most Liberal “left wing” President since Truman.

That got me thinking about a surprisingly “right wing” President, John F. Kennedy.

Can Old Europe Learn New Tricks?
In a Sunday plebiscite, French voters said non to the European Constitution, which the New York Times calls “a document similar in some ways to the Constitution that binds the United States.” Also dissimilar in some ways; for instance, it comprises 448 articles, 441 more than the U.S. Constitution. “The decision of France inevitably creates a difficult situation for the defense of our interests in Europe,” said President Jacques Chirac, the haughty, Massachusetts-looking Paris Gaullist, who by the way served Saddam.

International Freedom Center

There has been a lot of blogger outrage over the new International Freedom Center; the memorial to the World Trade Center.

I’m not too thrilled with it myself.

Recently, I hinted that The haughty french-looking Massachusetts Democrat, who by-the-way also served in Vietnam was slow to Release his Military Records, which he Promised to Release on Meet the Depressed, back on January 30, 2005.

Well, 010000000 days later (note, this is Geek-Fu for 128 days), The Boston Globe reports that Kerry has done just that; or we THINK he did.

State of the Geek (2005)

Filed under: PersonalJeremy @ 9:44:40 AM Tags:

And now, for entirely unimportant reasons, I would like to give my 31st annual State of the Geek address.

The occasion for this address is the fact that the Earth is in a special position in its yearly orbit of the sun.

For those of you who don’t quite understand, just keep reading. As I mentioned, it is entirely unimportant.

Bordering on Reality

Commemorating the epic holiday, known as June thirteenth, I took the afternoon off from work and perused a local Borders. I need to take a shower afterwards.

At first, it was a nice afternoon, free refils of some okay coffee, and the picking up of some geek books (For function, not fun. But then again, for a geek function can still be lots of fun!) and “Blog” by Hugh Hewitt.
(Not to worry, well wishers, most of the Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com wishlist was left untouched!)

But, as I would figure by-now, the left-leaning establishment of the typical bookstore was all over the place.

If I could be…

Cindy threw this baton at me, I looked at it, as it lay on the ground, and other bloggers ran past. I scratched my head, and pondered at this inanimate steel rod, and how it resembled other batons I’d seen in my 31 years of baton watching.

After a few hours of this, I picked it up. It didn’t move, and that startled me, so I threw it back down in fear and horror.
It laughed at me, as it “clincked” against the pavement.

It was mocking me.

The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com don’t like it when inanimate steel rods mock them.

So I investigated it a little more:

The Upgrade was quite simple. I’m liking these new themes, no need to horde my code away so that it doesn’t get overwritten.

According to The Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com Reading List, The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com have recently finished reading How the Irish Saved CivilizationThe Untold Story of Ireland’s Heroic Role from the Fall of Rome to the Rise of Medieval Europe by Thomas Cahill.

I’ve wanted to read this book for a long time, when I first learned about it in college, and more recently when I Pontificated on the subject of St. Patrick. Fortunately, it was delivered to me as a Christmas gift, last December.

Through this book I have a far deeper appreciation of the Dark Ages, the fall of Rome, and the significant role the Irish played in the dawn of the Reformation.

I Abhor spam.
Its the lowest form of evil in the known universe. Its subversive, its toxic, its the embodiment of all that is evil and discusting in the marketing universe. Its the worst manifestation of the Bottom-Dwelling blood-sucking marketing Leeches

Anyways, I was the target (like most other major WordPress users) of trackback spam. It was awful, so bad that a few of you might have noticed it.
