Today, I took another book off the Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com Reading List, I’ve just finished Tom Clancy’s Patriot Games. As usual with Tom Clancy, I enjoied it.
It was ironic that I read this book in parallel with How the Irish Saved Civilization; the Irish parallels between the books were quite unique.
And, by the way, this was much better than the Movie. (Which was not all that bad)

Independence Day! And what better way than to reflect on the mighty-mighty Supercarriers, one of the major sources of the Independence we enjoy today.
Public Sources:
The other day, I jested about the NASA assult on Comet Temple-1, via the Deep Impact Probe.
11 terrible secret of space – 24 hits
NASA must believe that Comet Temple-1 is a terrible secret. It plans to Bombard the interplanetary body with probes.
Poor comet, what harm has it done to us!
I never thought I’d be on the bleeding edge of “Scientific” Lunacy.

Earlier on, as we were going to war in Iraq, I Pontificated about The State of War and justified conquest. I cited the mighty-mighty political philosopher, John Locke. I’d like to revisit that, if I may.

It is hard to believe, but this marks the 1000th post of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com.
Hard to believe, isn’t it?
When I started this site on January 20, 2002, I never thought that 1000 posts later, I would still be going strong. (And stronger than I imagined back in the tidewaters of those early days.)

As much as I tire of hearing about the uber-covert-spy Valerie Plame, (Day-By-day even coined a great phrase, PlameOut) I have to take notice at the way everyone is bending over backwards to make Karl Rove some kind of diabolical criminal.
It seems that everyone from the Washington Times to the New York Times has pretty much wrapped up the Valerie “Double-O-nothin” Plame kerfuffle.
But the same media (and the DNC) are STILL talking about Rove as a criminal.

I recently finished BLOG: Understanding the Information Reformation That’s Changing Your World, by Hugh Hewitt; which I picked up a little over a month ago.
It was an interesting read, but I don’t advise it for everyone.
I’ll provide some highlights…

I knew this website existed, but in a complete lapse of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com timing, The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com have neglected to point the kind and gentle readers of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com to the epitome of Web-ego.
Brother Leader of the Revolution Moammar Ghadhafi’s public relations website
Brother Leader of the Revolution? (That is a new one.)
Here at Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com he will always be lovingly referred to as The Colonel.
(At least until Ghadhafi finally gives himself a promotion)
I was asked an interesting question in my cubicle jungle, today.
It wasn’t asked in a scoffing manner, but in a truely curious manner.
I don’t blame the co-worker for asking, because of the three Branches in the Seperation of Powers model, the Judicial Branch is by far the most nebulous.

In honor of the first manned-Lunar-Landing on this day in 1969, Google has presented the Web with Google Moon, a visual map of the surface of the moon, as Google Earth does for your home planet.
I’m amazed at the level of detail.
Go ahead, zoom all the way in!

I’m sitting here, working from home, listening to my satelite radio, and I was cruising the talk channels (as Jerry Doyle is on vacation and Sean Hannity is boring me) and I noticed that Sirius 144 (Air America) is really Sirius 143 (Sirius-Left).
I found some interesting information searching the web on this subject:

Bridget Johnson of GOP Vixen has a plesant Field Report of being a Republican in an increasingly Democratic field (Journalism)
This post is going to be bad, because its not going to have anything worth reading.
But today, I got some GREAT news. News I’ve been waiting four-plus years for.
Its work related.
And no, I can’t talk about it, not online.
Sheesh, its work related, and I can’t even talk about it at work! (That is how silly my cubicle jungle is, sometimes.)
I guess if you read the source code for this page, you MIGHT find the answer (I can’t keep completely quiet)
But yeah. Today was a great day.
That is all.

I’ve added another read to my news feeder as of late, Independent Sources. I was tipped off to this site several weeks ago, from some of the other network of blogs I regularly read, but I was pleased to see some attention yesterday On my CAFTA post.
So the insider contacted me, and requested a link exchange (a virtual handshake, if you will) and thus the link-share was born.

As I’ve mentioned before, both here, and numerous other websites out there, I really like the actor Bruce Campbell. He’s probably the ultimate B-Movie actor of all time; his characters always have this same kind of “attitude” which I deeply appreciate. (For a guy who has never lived east of Lake Huron, he has a very East-Coast way of delivery)
Today I finished If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor, the Autobiography of Bruce Campbell.
It was a plesant read, and definitely unlike a typical Hollywood Autobiography (which was by design)
