I’m hearing all sorts of noise from the left about the Recess Appointment of John Bolton.
The take from Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com:
“Its about frickin’ time!”

What a sight for sore eyes.
A few years ago (I believe it was the 2003 SuperBowl) there was possibly the greatest SuperBowl Commercial of all time.
Terry Tate: Office Linebacker
But, the last we heard of the Terrible Terry Tate was 2004, and Reebok all but disavowed the knowledge of their former advertising campaign.
But I finally unearthed it, by accident:
It is the beginning of the month, and that marks the next installation of the most regular Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com collumn. The Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com Searchy Fun.

After seeing some tweaking by The-Roommate-Formerly-Known-as-Matthew-Maynard, on his site, color me inspired!
So I treked over to Alex-King-dot-org to download some that tickled my fancy.

Taking advantage of some time off this week, The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com took in a few movies.
My one line reivew for both of them:
Do you know how long Apple Products have offered 2+ button mouse functionality?
A long time (since at lease OS9)
Do you know how long Apple has offered an OEM 2+ button mouse?
(they still don’t)
But apple JUST recently offered this “upgrade”
The Apple Mighty Mouse
First CISC archetecture and now this?
What is Steve Jobs doing these days?
This is going around the net, I thought it was cute.
I wont use this myself, as I have my own Google Page
But Check out the Create your Own Google Logo
Today I returned to the cubicle jungle after being away from the hustle of work for a week. (One of those sanity break things)
It was really my first chance to get “away” in almost 15 months (Bad, I know)
Anyways, one always gets the question, “So what did you do?”
So here is what I did.

As promised, a pseudo-Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com Movie Review: Batman Begins.
I took this movie in, on a Friday, and even though I sat next to a couple who had to whisper through every scene because she didn’t understand the plot. I was able to enjoy the movie.

Well, this seems to be a dry news-cycle, so Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com will take a brief look at the pressing news items of recent days:
Mary Jo Kopechne was unavailable for comment.
People like the esteemed Senator Edward “Teddy” Kennedy, are calling the U.S. Efforts in Iraq a quagmire.
Lets take a look at this a little deeper, shall we?
I’d like to point out another example of a potential geo-political quagmire.

The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com would like to highlight a growing phenomenon in Cubicle Jungles across America.
Doing the Needful
I first ran across this phenomenon about nine months ago, at first I thought it was a fluke, but as time went on, I slowly learned it was bigger than I first expected.

After reading about a rocket attack on the USS Ashland (LSD 48) and the USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) as they were in port, in the Red Sea, at Aqaba, Jordan; I was curious, as always, as to where our mighty-mighty Supercarriers are.

One of the joys of owning a car, is NEW TIRES.
After much heckling by my co-workers, I finished up my daily tasks, early, today; and ventured to the Tire Store to pick up four new steel belted toroids.
Why are new tires so great, you ask…
(I thought you’d never ask!)

Its a serious monsoon season here in the Olde Pueblo.
Usually, the thunder is mild, but this morning, I was awoken by it (This is the second night that I can remember, where there was thunder and lightning in the early morning. [Both incidents occured this summer]) So I didn’t need an alarm clock.

I saw this New York Times article on h-t-t-p-colon forward-slash forward-slash slash-dot-dot-org.
A co-worker just sent this too me, and I’ll be honest, I find this highly disturbing:
Very occasionally, The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com have a serious jonesing for a Philly Cheesesteak. Its in our blood.
Unfortunately, the farther west of the Mississippi you get, the less likely one will find satisfaction for such a craving.
But here is Dad to the rescue.
Thanks to Dad, I discovered my new favorite restaurant in Tucson.

Dad asked about this yesterday. I posted about the Pop v. Soda controversy on a previous site (now gone the way of many internet dot-com startups), so to preserve such a pontification, I thought I would re-kindle it here.
Some folks over at Harvard have done an exhaustive online study on the subject.
Its truely facsinating!

Late Friday Night, I enjoied some Geek-Downtime and finally got around to updating Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com to WordPress 1.5.2.
I’m getting the hang of these updates. Given good bandwidth it takes about 15-20 minutes to backup, delete, upload and run the Upgrade protocol. (Ironically, it takes about 20 minutes for The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com to compile a weekly report on the cubicle jungle for the rest of the Not-So-Small-Software-Organization.)

This afternoon, some of the more specialized teams (like mine) were awarded with a nifty cubicle trinket. It was to The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com‘s surprise when our immediate manager presented us with a martini-glass.
Now, usually I’m not one to brag about any cubicle goodies I may-or-may not receive. But in this case, since I’m quite known for enjoying the tasty adult beverage known as the Martini, I felt it was worthy of a post on Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com.

Hurricane Katrina sure packed a wallop, didn’t she; and poor New Orleans is trying not to perform an impression of Venice Italy.
It kind of reminds me of another disaster that happened less than a year ago. It was a Tsunami in the Indian Ocean. (Perhaps you remember it?)
I also remember, thanks to this blog, the ammount of U.S. Support which went out to those who were affected by such a disaster (and the scorn of the U.N. when the actual U.S. Government gave so little.) I also remember the mighty-mighty U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln arrived on the scene in mass relief.
In the end, the citizens of the United States gave more money than any other country on the planet, to the Tsunami relief effort.
As of this writing Katrina’s cost of damages is now exceeding 16-BILLION dollars.

Just like with the aftermath of the Tsunami, the U.S. Navy is converging support for the devestation in New Orleans.
So far, the following ships have been dispatched to the area:
