Come on, something had to have happened today.
Tell.

A Delightful Alternative to 404 – Not Found :: Serving you since 1996
In their usual fashion of April Fools pranks, the boys and girls at Google came up with the following three for our geeky entertainment, this year:
Now with one extra day
Wouldn’t it be great if you had more time in the week for fun with friends and family, and doing all those things you want to do? We thought so, too. Learn MoreHuh?
The Google computer physicists have been hard at work deciphering the laws of time and space. Today we have added another day to the week. We call it GooDay (or G’day in Australia). It falls between Saturday and Sunday, and its sole purpose is to be a spare day for catching up on fun. What should I do on GooDay?
Whatever you like! Have a party. Grill up some burgers. Sleep in late. Go hiking. Set up your new Internet connection. Or all of the above! (we plan on eating pizza, drinking wine, and playing board games)Really?
No, not really. Happy April 1st!
Well, yesterday I finally did my 2006 Taxes, using the mighty-mighty Turbo Tax.

I don’t know how I found this, (errant surfing, I think) but I landed on New York Magazine’s Office Survival Guide. Its a fluffy-kind-of piece which celebrates the hit TV Series “The Office” (Which I have yet to sit down and watch.)
But I looked through a few of the articles, and after 7.5 years of Cubicle Quagmire [I smell a new vernacular entry - ed.] I couldn’t relate with much of it.

When I was attending the University of Arizona, I came across a very strange ad in the Daily Wildcat student Newspaper.
(Below the Fold)
It was some kind of weird game. I picked it up, looked at it, thought about it, but eventually put it down. At first glance it appeared to be some kind of tricky religion puzzle, but as you looked again, it appeared far more twisted; bringing science, and history references, seemingly out of nowhere. But there was a non-obvious pattern afoot, which of course seeded my curiosity.
I learned from a few of my learned friends that this kind of add appeared every May, by some crazy guy, or something.
Still, it takes a lot of crazy to come up with that.
I later forgot about those DaVinci-esque ads and left the University of Arizona behind me in my personal history.
Then I came across this site, and it all came back: May Day Mystery
This thing was more than meets the eye! 25+ years more!

In the continuing effort of Internet Free Jeremy to document the damage caused by Global Warming, The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com would like to point out a disturbing warming trend across the Midwest and north east that was observed in many news outlets across this nation.
The Earth has gotten so warm, that it was snowing for most of April. It is Springtime, and now Global Warming is so out of control its destroying Spring planting season with snow!
CBS News reports more is on the way.

I just heard this on the news… and found an article at the “News Agency”.

I’m sure there is a Don Imus joke in here somewhere:
As some of you know, The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com are very interested in the goings of of the Ukraine, especially after the Orange Revolution of 2004.
But, like with all revolutions, it was hardly pretty:

This might be inappropriate mindless banter after the events of April 16, but its on my mind.
I was listening to the news reports of the Virginia Tech shooter, Cho Seung-Hui, and his personality profile:
“He was a loner…”
“He didn’t reach out to anyone. He never talked…”
“He was very quiet, always by himself…”
“He just seem real, real shy, … He was quiet, nothing too unusual.”
When I heard/read these, a little alarm went off in my head. I flashedback to 1999. The same things were said about the shooters there.

One of the more inspirational stories coming out of the Virgina Tech Massacre, is the ex post facto on the role the internet played in this event.
From how the internet was used to notify students of trouble, to how the internet is being used as a vehicle for news, sympathy, and public information.

Several years ago (Before Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com, even) The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com went to catalogue Cubicle Culture. It was an early attempt of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com Vernacular around the subject of the cubicle jungle.
Today, I was inspired to seek out my old documentation and republish them.
When I re-read these 7 year old documents, I’m reminded of a kinder more-innocent time as a Cubicle Monkey.

During my Internet Free Weekend, I was listening to the Satellite Radio a lot, and listening to re-runs of Martha Quinn Presents Gods of the Big 80s. A nostalgic, yet amusing, program, and highly recommended by Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com if you are able to listen to it.
But she brought up a study on the effects of downloading music and the recording industry.

The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com was honored this weekend by Beast 1624 who nominated Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com for the Thinking Bloggers Award with the following:
I started reading Jeremy after I read a comment he left on [Allison's site]. Something about Google maps and area 51. I knew then that here was a blog I needed to check out. When I saw that he lived in Tucson, where my closest living relatives are, and that he worked in a cubicle jungle like I had [-the one that was a live saving career change for me-] I was hooked. Where he comes up with the vast storehouse of information he posts I’ll never know. He knows more about our fleet of Navy Super Carriers than anyone. Also, in Jeremy I found one who loathes the cowboys as much as I do, although for different reasons. I can always count on Jeremy to present a WIDE range of subjects…never a dull moment. I often find myself saying ‘gee, I didn’t know that’ or ‘I never looked at it like that before’ after finishing one of his posts. His series on Cubicle Culture is priceless. Besides, I like his color scheme.
A lot is being said about this Iraq Supplemental Funding Bull from Congress, mostly quoting the Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid: Harry Reid:
Three months after Democrats took power in Congress, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said the moment was at hand to “send a message to President Bush that the time has come to find a new way forward in this intractable war.”
Now, I’m often a literalist with phrases, including phraseology like “Do the Needful” or “Truth to Power“, or “Humane Treatment of Animals.”
And if ONLY Harry Reid did this, I’d let it go. But this appears to be in the echo chamber of talking points, that the Political Marketeers love to play in.

Since everyone else is talking about this, The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com should exert some expertise and chime in:

I’ve been thinking about my previous pontification/Modernist Article 60 Years of the Angry Left. I put forth the hypothesis that the Angry Left can be traced from World War II through today, and their crusades. Including, the most monumental change in manifestations: The End of the Cold War to the Environmental Movement.
I’m finishing reading State of Fear by Michael Crichton. I’m just to the point where the author introduces the idea of the “State of Fear”.
In this theory, he also brings to light the events after the fall of the Berlin Wall. He also points out how the environmental movement didn’t really take off until after 1989. His theory was this was due to the “State of Fear”.

It has been over a month since I’ve had a Cheesesteak.
A month!
I don’t know how I did it before. I went years. YEARS! That is how good Frankie’s Cheesesteaks are!
But for the month of April, my favorite cheese steak joint: Daglio’s has changed names and locations, moving down Campbell just a few blocks.
And today is the Grand Opening.
I’ve been waiting what seems like forever.
