Okay, its officially October, and one might think that one can start talking about a Presidential Election (which is still over 13 months away)

The Sorry thing is, It’s only October, and I’m tired of it.

Thankfully, VodkaPundit has a like-minded analysis.

Sputnik and the State of Fear

From the "When-The-Earth-got-another-Moon" Department

Something I’ve been fascinated by in the past year, is this construct called the Military Industrial Complex. This name that Eisenhower assigned to the machine in society which encourages advancement, discovery, and even war.

One of the key events of the Space Race, occurred 50 years ago today: The 50th anniversary of the launch of the world’s first satellite, Sputnik:

The success of Soviet engineers in launching Sputnik stunned the world, and was followed just four years later by another historic achievement — the launch of Yuri Gagarin, the first human in space.

Sputnik galvanized the United States to pour money into space research and technology with the goal of landing a man on the moon — an event that occurred in 1969.

What do you want? (From your Government, that is)

Filed under: PontificationsJeremy @ 9:18:25 AM
From the "Wheelbarrow-Full-of-Money" Department

As the Election Season heats up from the dull simmer of the summer of 2007, I’ve been noticing the campaign promises:

Hearing all these promises/offers, I thought to myself:
What do *I* want from my government?

G.B. sented me a wonderful collection of pictures of my Niece, Rachael, and my Nephew Daniel, from some kind of Community Day in their borough/township/municipal area. (One where the childrens get to climb around all the public equipment.)

Rachael, loves fire trucks, so this was a great event for her.

The Faceless Enemy

I think I’ve argued myself into criticizing the “War on Terror”.

I know, I know, could this be a contradiction? I’m not sure. Maybe a clarification, or a request of our Leaders to refocus. I’m not sure. I’ll let you, the reader, decide.

As we were waiting for our Coffee this morning, Marshie saw the front page Article in the local paper the Arizona Red Star: Google installs Tucson on the (interactive) map

Not only that, but Philadelphia was added as well.

This just confirms to The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com that Google wants to ownz them.

60 minutes

From the "It's-always-darkest-just before-it-goes-pitch-black" Department

As I was rolling into work this morning, I took a usual look at my dashboard clock and saw that it was 5 minutes before the top of the hour. Meaning that I was right on time to get to my desk and punch in at the 05:00 hour.

I didn’t notice how light traffic was, its usually hit or miss before the sun rises.

I did however notice how empty the parking lot was.

I took another look at my clock: 03:56 AM.

Was my clock broken?

I looked to my Satellite Radio, and it confirmed the time: 03:56 AM.

Was I an hour early?

For those of you who might have also been 404ed, this weekend, Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com was 404ed since Saturday.

Now, I know what some of you were thinking. This new webhost really tanked on The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com?

Well, while I am disappointed in the difficulty, it was still a much better experience than my previous webhost.

In melancholy news from the cubicle jungle today, The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com were officially Laid Off due to a “Workforce Reduction” and will no longer be employed by the Not-So-Small-Software-Organization.

The news was not as surprising as it sounds, the writing was on the wall, early this morning, as I entered the office. By the time 9:00 rolled around, I was in my exit interview.

So after 8 years and 2+ months, Jeremy R. Gilby has left the building.

Why Jeremy is not A Libertarian – II

As I was reading over this VodkaPundit Essay, I was reminded of two things I wrote earlier. One, How Little Jeremy became a Republican, and a Two Headed Monster essay, Why Jeremy is Not a Libertarian.

I find it comforting to know that Steven Green and I have come to the same conclusions, but from different directions.

No, I didn’t watch the Michael Moore movie, but rather, I’m sick.

Its news because I’m not the type who is prone to get a cold. In fact, this is the first time I’ve been anywhere close to sick this year.
