Turns out, there IS a Hops Shortage

One of the places where The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com and Company like to hang out is Thunder Canyon Brewery. Its a great place that always has a great selection of fresh beer on tap, all made under the same roof.

Often, for bachelor parties, the best man will often grab a keg from said establishment. And the other month that was the plan. It was October, and TCB had brewed a batch of their Oktoberfest (Which was really good, BTW) so the Best Man wanted a keg of said brew; only to find out they were not providing this flavor in kegs, as “There is a Hops Shortage.”

A WHAT? This was much the discussion during the party, and the following weeks afterward, and we thought it was a joke. How can there be a Hops Shortage?

It was so funny, The-Evil-Doctor-Merlin-Channing-Lowe-Jr. and I started blaming other things on this silly “Hops Shortage”.

Well, turns out, there is:

In what is probably, now, another Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com Tradition, The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com would like to remind you readers that today is Repeal Day

On this day, in 1933, the dastardly 18th Amendment was Repealed from the United States Constitution, thus ending Prohibition.

People are asking me about the upcoming Meteor Shower that is going on. So I decided to put on my Astronomy Hat and help with the enjoyment of one of the easiest observational events for amateur astronomers; as you do not need telescopes, cameras, or any equipment; just your eyes.

Monday, I’m jetting off on the latest Tour-de-Jeremy, and taking the Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com Vicinity back to the Homeland to see Dad, and G.B..

I’ve always said, if the Eagles win one game a year, it should be AT Dallas.

Today, The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com fly back to Philadelphia, along with a Victorious Philadelphia Eagles.

I’ve not talked about a lot of football this year, but this was an important game, as my two favorite teams won.

I kind of wish I was flying through Dallas (for once) so I could get beat up for wearing Eagles garb on “Enemy Turf”

If you might remember, the last I visited Pennsylvania, it was to welcome little Daniel to the world, but Daniel decided to join us a day after I returned to Arizona.

I was not offended.

So this was the first time Little Danny got to meet his Uncle Jeremy.

On the Virginia Trip, The-Roommate-Formerly-Known-as-Matthew-Maynard, his wife, and The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com trekked up to the Nation’s Capitol specifically to see the not-so-new International Spy Museum.

When I first heard about this place, earlier this decade, I really wanted an excuse to get to Washington D.C.

On the Magical Mystery Tour that is the latest Tour-de-Jeremy, after returning from Virginia, Dad and I went to the local Sellersville Theater and saw the Eric Mintel Quartet.

It was a nice show, centered around Piano Jazz. The best part was that the Holiday show centered around Vince Guaraldi (Think Charlie Brown music).

As Dad was baking goodies for the Gilby family Christmas Eve Festivity, he realized there was a midnight cry for Brown Sugar, so The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com were tasked with walking to the Grocery Store and fetching said ingredient.

This gave us the opportunity to see the progress of Mood’s Bridge and the Grocery Store formerly known as Clemens Markets.

What Child is This?

Filed under: PontificationsJeremy @ 12:01:32 AM

What Child is this who, laid to rest
On Mary’s lap is sleeping?
Whom Angels greet with anthems sweet,
While shepherds watch are keeping?

This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and Angels sing;
Haste, haste, to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Why lies He in such mean estate,
Where ox and ass are feeding?
Good Christians, fear, for sinners here
The silent Word is pleading.

This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and Angels sing;
Haste, haste, to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Nails, spear shall pierce Him through,
The cross be borne for me, for you.
Hail, hail the Word made flesh,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and Angels sing;
Haste, haste, to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

So bring Him incense, gold and myrrh,
Come peasant, king to own Him;
The King of kings salvation brings,
Let loving hearts enthrone Him.

Raise, raise a song on high,
The virgin sings her lullaby.
Joy, joy for Christ is born,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

The iPod Peoples Upgrade

From the "The-Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com-Special-Edition" Department

In my varied travels this Tour-de-Jeremy, I was depressed to learn that my main iPod was beginning to malfunction.

It would still play, but I was not able to synchronize with iTunes on my notebook computer. I spent a few days troubleshooting the little device and came to the conclusion that the harddrive inside the 4th Generation iPod was clicking uncomfortably when attempting to write. It is dying.

Dad learned of my dilemma and was quick to offer a new iPod as a Christmas Present.

Uncle Jermey’s Drinkin Coffee

Filed under: PersonalJeremy @ 9:15:09 AM Tags:
From the "Like-Uncle-Like-Niece" Department

The last time I saw Rachael was just before Danny was born. It was my last night in Pennsylvania, and Dad and I went to visit Joe and G.B.; we went to a new Iced Cream place, that G.B. wanted to try.

They served everything from soft serve to the rock hard stuff. While Ice Cream is great and all, I’m not attracted to it; so in the same joint was a coffee barista. So I walked down the counter, and ordered a coffee instead.

We took everything back to Joe and Ang’s, and we all sat down at the kitchen table to enjoy our goodies. Rachael, for the first time, noticed that Uncle Jeremy was not eating Ice Cream, and she inquired about this, in her 2+ year old way. G.B. explained that “Uncle Jeremy is drinking coffee.”

For the rest of the night, Rachael repeated that phrase: “Uncle Jermey is drinking coffee.”

I left for Arizona the next morning, and through the rest of the year, whenever coffee was mentioned, Rachael dutifully pointed out, “Uncle Jermey drinks coffee.”

So fast forward to last night:
