The Cornfield Overlords

In what is called “Tradition” the Iowa Caucuses take place today:

(Term stolen blatantly from The Politburo Diktat)

And like previous elections, the rest of the country is dumbfounded as two why Iowa and New Hampshire have such a stake (as played up by the media) in the Presidential Primary Process:

Fortunately, our favorite Iowan, is on the scene to explain:
IowaHawk: Three Cheers for the Iowa Caucuses!
An Iowahawk Salute to America’s Corn-Crazy Electoral Overlords

Mindless Banter from Cisco today.

How many 5-year-old Childrens could you take in a fight?

28

Cisco could only take 22. What a sissy.

I’m Ron Paul, and I approve this message

From the "One-of-those-articles-where-the-disclaimer-will-come-in-handy" Department

It has been said before that The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com have fully unendorsed the Presidential Campaign of Texas Congressman Ron Paul.

I would elect Hillary Clinton before I would vote for Ron Paul. That is how I stand.

However, I have several friends across this great land who are in political love with Ron Paul, as he is the most Libertarian of all the candidates on the race.

I have stated that I do like the Libertarian Philosophy, I disagree with its platform, and I’ve never met a Libertarian I didn’t dislike.
Ron Paul is one of those candidates. Ron Paul is quite cozy with the “911 Truthers” (The people who believe that the events of September 11th were an “inside job”) and they are major contributors to his campaign. If Congressman Paul believes this tripe, it is unknown, but the fact that these moonbats are behind him, makes me wary of the candidate.

Over at The New Republic (a Liberal Political Magazine) there was an interesting article that is getting a lot of play on the Right Wing Radio shows.
Angry White Man
I consider this a must read for my politically minded friends who think that Ron Paul is the savior of their precious political process. I do not want this man as the Chief Executive.

The Modernist #19: The Political Landscape

The Modernist Papers

Presidential Primaries can be revealing moments in the Political Life of the country. Four Years ago, it was a looking glass into the heart of the Democratic Party. This year, it is a magnifying glass into the hearts of both the Republican and the Democratic Party.

When I hear people talk about people who vote Democrat, or people who vote Republican, I hear a lot of broad generalizations. I’ve tried to combat these before, but this year, I see some familiar, and some new divides in the constituencies of both parties.

SpamAlot

It must be a three day weekend, because The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com are battling the spammers at their old game.

Whenever there is a holiday, the Bottom-Dwelling blood-sucking marketing leeches sent out tens of thousands of spam E-mails with the send-to address being a derivative of at-Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com.

So I’m noticing a strange behavior with Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com, which started happening last night.

In Firefox, when you view a page, and use the address h-t-t-p-colon forward-slash forward-slash w-w-w-dot jeremy-gilby-dot-com, nothing displays. No Source, No Data, No color, just a white screen.

When you view a page and use the address Without the www-dot, it appears normal.

Just another FYI, in my Administrivial Maintenance of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com, I’ve re-instated the second layer of Spam Protection (Bad Behavior).

I turned it off a few months ago as it was blocking The-Evil-Doctor-Merlin-Channing-Lowe-Jr. (HA, Chan, I beat you this time!)

Tucson Traffic

From the "We-all-face-the-same-way, Still-it-takes-all-day, I-take-a-look-to-my-left, Pick-out-the-worst-and-the-best" Department

I was at dinner last night (it was Frankie’s 4th Anniversary!) and the subject of Tucson Traffic came up.

Most of the people in the conversation were non-Tucsonans, and some transplants from Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.

Aside: I was proud to be able to prove my Pennsylvania/Jersey-tude, when challenged by another Pennsylvanain:

Oh yeah? You from Pennsylvania? What exit?
    Me: Exit 44
    Oh, Quakertown eh?
    Me: No, Perkasie.
    Yeah, close enough.

He was asking for the exit off the Pennsylvania Turnpike. No question. One could have qualified their answer with adding “Blue Route”, “Rt 80″, “Rt 76″ or likewise, but the default answer is the Turnpike Exit.

Anyways, we got on the subject of Traffic in Tucson, and how there is such a dichotomy in Traffic Behavior.

One self-described mid-western redneck described her take.

One thing I noticed, after John “Silky” Edwards withdrew his quest for the Democratic Presidential Nomination, Since the only candidate talking about “Two Americas” has left the race; this now signifies the United States can return to being “One America” again.
