From the "Do-The-Hustle" Department

One of the other inhabitants of the Jeremy-Gilby-dot-Compound, recommended a new TV Series from the BBC for The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com to enjoy.

Hustle

I’ve currently only watched half (three episodes) of the first season, and I’m impressed.

Repeal Day 2008

Who says that the Constitution is immutable?

Today is the 75th Anniversary of the Repeal of the 18th Amendment, and the unjust Prohibition of tasty adult beverages; a day which many are taking as Repeal Day.

To date, the 18th Amendment, Prohibiting Alcohol, was the only Constitutional Amendment which has ever been repealed. It was ratified in January 29, 1919, and repealed December 5, 1933.

So celebrate Constitutional Mechanics, and exercise your Constitutional Right.

Betrayed by the Television

Why has the warm glowing warming glow of the Television betrayed me?

I was just informed by another inhabitant of the Jeremy-Gilby-dot-Compound that The-Evil-Doctor-Merlin-Channing-Lowe-Jr. was just seen on the Television; in a COMMERCIAL no less.

What da?

From the "He'll-flip-you, flip-you-for-real" Department

Yeah, that didn’t work.

What I had was a article with completely upside down text, from flip-a-text-dot-com, and it did not work as expected.

For one, I was expecting the rest of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com to perform correctly, and it was not. So the unique character set had to go.

So imagine this was upside down, and slightly confusing, and we can share in the idea that it was, and pretend it was funny.

Title of the Article

From the "Quirky-statement-which-is-related-to-the-Title-of-the-Article, but-is-even-funnier-in-reference-to-a-Department-title" Department

An Introductory Statement to bring attention to a casual reader, and perhaps generate a search string. This series of sentences might also go in the Post’s Excerpt which is read by several RSS feed readers.

A Rhetorical Question, which alludes to a potential answer later in the article.

A link to someone else’s genius, which The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com wish to exploit or expand upon.

A clever way to pause as this is the end of the except which will appear on the front page or in the internal WordPress list results.

After arriving in Pennsylvania, The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com were greeted with unusual cold weather and the precipitation of the storm that followed him from the west coast. (One might think this is a Global Warming Watch post, but it isn’t)

Anyways, Sunday Morning, G.B. and the family were digging out their driveway and the Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com Niece and Nephew got to get some snow time.

Do You Hear What I Hear?

Filed under: PontificationsJeremy @ 11:59:58 PM

Said the night wind to the little lamb
“Do you see what I see?
Way up in the sky little lamb
Do you see what I see?
A star, a star
Dancing in the night
With a tail as big as a kite
With a tail as big as a kite”

Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy
“Do you hear what I hear?
Ringing through the sky shepherd boy
Do you hear what I hear?
A song, a song
High above the tree
With a voice as big as the sea
With a voice as big as the sea”

Said the shepherd boy to the mighty king
“Do you know what I know?
In your palace wall mighty king
Do you know what I know?
A child, a child
Shivers in the cold
Let us bring him silver and gold
Let us bring him silver and gold”

Said the king to the people everywhere
“Listen to what I say!
Pray for peace people everywhere
Listen to what I say!
The child, the child
Sleeping in the night
He will bring us goodness and light
He will bring us goodness and light”

The child, the child
Sleeping in the night
He will bring us goodness and light

Book Review: The Reverse of the Medal

Filed under: Books,ReviewsJeremy @ 7:48:40 PM Tags:

I just crossed Patrick O’Brian’s The Reverse of the Medal off of the Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com Reading List.

I knew this book would be mostly spent on Land. I didn’t like it in the earlier novel: Post Captain, but it was acceptable much like The Fortune of War. But it was not as good as the recent novels in the War of 1812 arc.

Okay, I don’t quite believe it either. The Hot and Cold Philadelphia Eagles are in the playoffs. But really, I’m more excited that my two favorite teams both won at home, at the very same game.

Yes, it is a good day that the Philadelphia Eagles smite the Dallas Cowboys, and make them look REALLY bad.

Iraq News: Marines pull out of Fallujah

Filed under: PontificationsJeremy @ 6:53:50 PM
From the "Bowling-for-Fallujah" Department

Its been awhile since I’ve heard news from Iraq, but this distressed me, and I had a hard time finding it in the major media sources (at least on Google News):

Marines prepare to leave Falluja

I didn’t know that things were going so bad there that we’re pulling out so quietly. But thanks to this article I also learned that the Major Media are also pulling up their tent posts as they evacuate the troubled city.

2008: A Year in Review

From the "We’ll-take-a-cup-of-kindness-yet" Department

As I was paging through the 220 posts of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com for 2008, I was taken back by the fact that the Iowa Caucuses were less than 12 months ago. Hillary Clinton looked to be the presumptive nominee, and Mike Huckabee was the early leader, and John McCain was being shunned by the Republican Party.

It felt like years ago.

And I was in the midst of Book #4 of the Aubrey-Maturin Series, today, at the end of the year, I’m reading Book #12. That also makes it feel longer for me.
