Just an FYI to readers/commenters. It appears there is an issue with the Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com webhost; as Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com has been cycling through two different version histories, over the past few days.

I would suggest not leaving any comments until the issue is resolved.

Resolved?

After conferring with my Web Provider, we think we found the problem and implemented a solution.

Seems that my particular server was upgraded and there was a snafu in the process.

I’ve got all the “lost” comments in my E-mail and I’ll re-enter them.

Book Review: The Pendragon Cycle

A few years ago, an anonymous reader of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com found my Book Review of How the Irish Saved Civilization, and recommended a fictional series by Stephen R. Lawhead; The Pendragon Cycle.

On good faith, I started the series with the first book Talesin, which I briefly mentioned here.

I truly loved this series, and never felt confident enough to write a book review until I finished all five official books (There is one more unofficial sequel which I have yet to read, and I’m not sure if I will, based on the mixed reviews)

But, I just crossed off the last of the five books off the Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com Reading List, last night, and wanted to at least mention some of the highlights.

What Bernie Madoff did wrong

From the "This-isn't-a-Pyramid-Scheme; clearly, this-object-only-has-THREE-sides-and-a-base; clearly, this-is-a-tetrahedron-scheme" Department

The news has been awash with the news that Bernie Madoff has pleaded guilty to charges of fraud, in connection to a Ponzi Scheme.

Here is what Madoff did wrong: He shouldn’t have used a Pyramid Scheme, he should have used a tetrahedron scheme.

(Speaking of which, the Earth is not getting colder by itself. You need to donate!)

Government Motors

Filed under: PontificationsJeremy @ 7:55:28 PM
From the "New-Reality-Series: The-Apprentice: Corporate-Executive-Edition" Department

This weekend, I learned for the first time that the President and CEO of General Motors (and perhaps even Chrysler) was a Presidential Appointed position and served “at the pleasure of the President of the United States”; as Rick Wagoner submitted his letter of resignation to the company, after being encouraged by President Barack Obama to do so.

Apparently, Wagoner was nominated to the position by George H.W. Bush in 1992. I must have missed the Senate hearings on that.

Word from Scrappleface is that Obama has nominated Ralph Nader as a replacement.

But seriously, this announcement has disturbed me.
