Funeral Crasher

Ah, Pennsylvania, the birthplace of The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com. It holds a comfortable place in my heart.
Philadelphia

Liberty
Home of the Constitution of the United States
A Proud and historic herritage.

Its a wonderful state.

The Lieutenant Governor, however, is not helping.

Last week, the “honorable” Ltgov Catherine Baker Knoll funeral crashed a ceremony of a fallen Marine in Indiana, Pennsylvania.

The family of a Marine who was killed in Iraq is furious with Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll for showing up uninvited at his funeral this week, handing out her business card and then saying “our government” is against the war.

She sat down next to a Goodrich family member and, during the distribution of communion, said, “Who are you?” Then she handed the family member one of her business cards, which Goodrich said she still has.

Goodrich said she is positive that Knoll was not invited to the funeral, which was jammed with Marines in dress uniform and police officers, because the fallen Marine had been a policeman in McKeesport and Indiana County.

“Our family deserves an apology,” Rhonda Goodrich said. “Here you have a soldier who was killed — dying for his country — in a church full of grieving family members and she shows up uninvited. It made a mockery of Joey’s death.”

What really upset the family, Goodrich said, is that Knoll said, ‘I want you to know our government is against this war,’ ” Goodrich said.

*shakes head ruefully*
Talk about Crude, Rude, and Un-refined.

I’m shocked, actually, as I hold Governor Ed Rendel (Whom I call, The Favorite Democrat of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com) in high regard.

And this woman is vying for the Governor’s chair?
I’d like to think that she is unknowingly paving the way for the re-election of Rick Santorum.

You can contact the lt-governor/marketer at lieutenant-governor@state.pa.us

Hattip: Michelle Malkin amoung others.

Michelle Malkin is following this story quite nicely.
There was a formal apology from Rendel’s office, but still no word yet from Knoll.

  1. Hey, now, that about does it. “I want you to know our government is against this war”?!? Where did Lt Gov Knoll learn her manners? As a (bad)used-car salesperson? A business card? Was she trying to get “in” with the Funeral Home Union? Maybe the Mortician’s Guild?

Wait – Mortician’s Guild?!? Sounds like something out of an online RPG. Wait, I know. Knoll’s funeral-crashing shtick is to be put into an online war RPG. She is to portay the “bad” government in the USA (the bad chick). After the game goes live, Knoll will deliver a heartfelt apology to the Goodrich family in person.

See? It all works out in the end.

Yeah, in the same wierd alternate reality where Ringo is a really GOOD drummer.
