Formal Announcement
I just wanted to let the NSA and the Justice Department know, that I give explicit permission for your organizations to wire-tap my phone, and read my E-mail, and peruse this website.
If it means that there could be one less terrorist threat, I’m more than happy to make the sacrifice to my supposed right of privacy.
Thank you
On the lighter side:
Bush Announces Do-Not-Wiretap List
by Scott Ott(2005-12-19) — Just days after the New York Times released classified information about eavesdropping by the NSA on Americans linked to international terrorists, President George Bush at a news conference today announced creation of a new website which allows people to voluntarily exclude their phone numbers and email addresses from NSA wiretap lists.
The new National Do Not Wiretap Registry (DoNotWiretap.gov) follows the successful DoNotCall.gov model of allowing citizens to opt-out of harassment by electronic means.
“If you’re concerned that your civil rights might be violated simply because some al Qaeda member has your information in his cellphone or computer,” the president said, “then go to DoNotWiretap.gov, enter your contact phone number, email address, and names of terrorists who might have you on speed dial and we’ll let the National Security Administration know that you don’t want them eavesdropping on you.”

Well, first, YAY for you being back.
Second, if Big Brother wants to listen in on my phone call trying to figure out this dern’ new chili recipe with my Mom… doesn’t bother me a bit.

I must second that… welcome back. And as usual, you put it so well.
Everyone is all so upset about the Justice Department “checking on things,” but you can bet they will be the first ones yelling when an attack happens.

Good point, Dawn.
I’m reminded of a great article I referenced Last Year, when people were blaming the Bush Administration for not doing enough to prevent the attack on the World Trade Center.
Thankfully, that voice was made quiet.

Excuse me, but I missed something. I don’t hear people complaining about the spying activity unless you call the press “people”. Yes there are congress people making noise but that’s to be expected for our political entertainment.
Complaining about spying is similar to complaining that you and everyone else is being checked for explosives or weapons at the airport.
Tell me, are people really complaining about the spying?

Just the Rent-a-Mob types, Dad. You are quite right.
