2005 People of the Year
A lot of news organizations, have been pontificating about the 2005 Man/Person/People of the year of 2005.
Time Magazine thinks that Bill Gates, and Bono deserve the title. Time seems to be the benchmark in this catagorization.
The Editors of Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com thought it would be a good time to announce the Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com People of the Year:

I present the people of the Orange Revolution, in the Ukraine.
Possibly the most significant/important former Soviet Republic took a stand against old-school communism and opposed a controversial election process (and an assasination attempt on Victor Yushchenko). In the end, the people won, and they are now enjoying assured democracy.
The reason I trumpet this revolution is that I believe the Ukraine will once again rise to be not only the Breadbasket of Europe, but also be a stabilizing force for the unstable Balkan states. This event could revolutionize Europe, as East Europe catches up to the west, as new allies like Poland and Ukraine step foward ahead of shakey allies like Belgium, France, and Germany.
Like I said, this could mean a new face of Europe.
The Orange Revolution predated the Rose Revolution, the Purple Revolution, and the Ceder Revolution.
Yes, the Ukranians are heroes in the Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com book.
