What Unemployment?
In Case you missed it, there was a reported drop in Unemployment today.
No, I didn’t see it on the news either.
But thanks to the art of parody, we have some journalistic evidence!
Low Jobless Rate Leaves Workers Too Tired to Shop
From Scrappleface:
(2006-02-03) — The Democrat National Committee (DNC) responded to today’s news of another drop in joblessness by warning that overworked Americans might be “too tired to shop,” thus sending the economy into a tailspin.
According to the Labor Department, the unemployment rate fell in January to 4.7 percent, the lowest rate since July 2001, thanks to a boost in hiring across most sectors of the economy.
“George Bush’s tax cuts and other failed economic policies continue to sap the energy of potential shoppers,” said DNC Chairman Howard Dean. “Wages are up, but people are working so hard that they have no time to spend that money. It’s a recipe for disaster.”
Mr. Dean said the latest unemployment figures are a boon to Democrats running for election in 2006.
“Our progressive ideas,” he said, “will rescue people from the stifling confinement of offices and factories, and put them back on the streets where the stores are. It’s this kind of thinking that will allow Democrats to sweep Congressional elections, unless overworked Americans are too exhausted to get out and vote.”
I don’t know if you remember, but exactly 2-years ago the press was screaming the flawed DNC talking point that the Bush Administration lost countless numbers of jobs; and more people were out of work because of George W. Bush, which is why you should elect The haughty french-looking Massachusetts Democrat, who by-the-way was opposed to U.S. Outsourcing before he was for them.
(It seems that the unemployment rate is only important in election years, I guess.)

Ah yes… jobless rate and the economy. Two things that most influence presidential elections and the two things the president probably has the least direct influence over. Thanks again Mr. Greenspan.

Let’s analyze this.
1. Mr. Dean is an intelligent man
2. Mr. Dean would not commit political suicide
3. Stating that keeping people at work and off the streets is a bad thing is dumb
4. Stating that the DNC wants people shopping instead of working is political suicide
Therefore Mr. Dean could not have said those things.

You can relax, Dad.
Its quoted from a parody site
Howard Dean never said such things. That would be just silly.

Have you considered there are lucrative alternatives
to working for the XYZ company?
What about the security of self employment?
Which do you prefer? paycheck or profit?
Why not start “on the side” while you’re working.
( Have you read Rich Dad Poor Dad? )
That’s how I got started. Today I’m 100% self
employed and growing… even in a “bad economy”.
It’s not magic, or luck, or the lottery. It’s simply
making a decision that you’re not going to take it
anymore, then taking charge and responsibility.
Just a rational thought…

It’s almost poetic…
Congrats on your new job at XYZ! I hear they have great benefits.
