Apple: 30 Years of that “other” computer system

From the "This-could-seriously-be-an-April-Fool's-post" Department

Today, Apple Computer began its life. Steve Jobs and “The Woz” would forever be the folk heroes of the computer age.

And the fables are true, before the Two-headed-Steve, there was no personal computer market. After the Apple, it was a brave new world.

But Progress left Apple behind, as IBM, Oracle, and all the IBM clones ran with the idea. Leaving Apple with just a basket of progressive ideals.

Yeah, the Macintosh was something. But it fizzled before it started. It was mired in user-friendly style, and lacked substance.
Yeah, the iPod was something, but imitators are looming on the horizon, with less style and more functionality.
The history of Apple/Mac/iStuff is one of New, Exciting and iDifferent. But the company that gave you the one-button mouse was its own demise. I misuse the word demise, because they are still a successful company; but not as successful as they could be.
If they would give up on “different” and “cute”, and focus more on function, the might actually have a decent product.

But Apple has only a small cult following, when comparing Apple to anyone else. OS, Hardware, iMusic, etc.

But, I’ll admit it; without them, Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com would not exist. So those of you who dislike this page, blame Apple!

But, for those of you Mac Nostalgists, here is a trip down memory lane from Independent Sources:

  1. That must explain why the first Apple-store in my city opened its doors on the 1st of April. Do you own an Apple, Jeremy?

  2. No, Astrid, I dislike the Apple/Macintosh brand of computers, for a myrid of reasons.

Though, you couldn’t beat having an Apple IIx during the 80s. That was the computer to own then.
