Blog Wars: The Moonbats Strike Back

Filed under: RantsJeremy @ 10:57:24 AM
From the "This-is-obviously-a-usage-of-the-word 'Fascist' I'm-not-familar-with" Department
A long time ago, in a reality far far away…

Something unamusing is happening in the internet.

You see, once upon a time, there were these left-wing terrorist thugs protesting something at Santa Cruz, well, they were dumb enough to publish their names and contact information on not only the “Students Against War” website, but some other left wing sites as well. As Michelle Malkin reports.

Well, now that the names appear on Malkin’s site, the privacy freaks get all up in arms, and they are E-mailing “Constructive” remarks to Malkin (Not safe for work, just text, no images)

Anyways, now that people are reporting on this, like Vodka Pundit (mmmm. Vodka!) there is an all out weblog-fight going on. And the line has been drawn at Independent Media (Yeah Right, Independent…)

Don’t Stop At Malkin, Aim at Other Right Wing Sites
StopRightie 20 Apr 2006 13:47 GMT

    Malkin needs to be stopped.

Michele Malkin is the filthy right-wing fascist who posted the addresses, photos and pictures of anti-war activitsts that she happened to disagree with. This is fascism, clear and simple.

Background here: http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/04/18.html#a7956

Now she is getting support from the right-wing. We need action now! Here is a list of addresses of other right-wingers. Please do your best to be “nice” to all of these reichwingers:

And the site goes on to post the addresses of several right-wing bloggers.

Independent, indeed!

What gets me, is the use of the label “Fascist”, because the last time I looked at the definition of Fascism, I found this:

fas·cism n.

  1. often Fascism
    1. A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.
    2. A political philosophy or movement based on or advocating such a system of government.
  2. Oppressive, dictatorial control.

But the most basic definition, the State is god. Citizens serve the State, the State lets them live.

So Malkin et. al. are Government entities? Or People in power? Or is Fascism just an over used mislabel, like calling Bush “Hitler”?

I don’t know why people think that Fascism equates to Extreme Right Wing. This is a misconception out there, because while the Fascist wants extreme social controls (like Conservatives) they also want Extreme economic controls (like Liberalism). And a lame attempt to paint Republicans like Nazis.

  1. [Lots of Editing on this one... unfortunately, cause this guy was almost civil - ed.]

Regarding how this all started, Michelle Malkin went to a cached page, took a screenshot, and posted the image on her site because didn’t like the politics of the people. It’s not her place to justify the disclosing of this information because she deemed that they were terrorizing people. That’s an issue for the Santa Cruz police department to deal with, not her own brand of vigilante justice.

As for her own personal details – Malkin [Link Removed - ed.] included that on her own e-mail list and that’s how it went public. She launched her personal information about herself BY herself.

And the anti-racist One People’s Project [Link Removed - ed.] website promptly released her new details.

Someone took it a step further and used live.windows.com and yahoo maps to do a Graphic. [Link Removed - ed.]

    Payback’s a [pain] eh’ Malkin?

Her refusal to remove these kids contact information was not from conviction, but from revenue. Every journalist in the world knows that contact information on a press release is for journalists to call for more information or interviews, not to be published (or even pointed out) in the publication itself. If she were any kind of ethical person she would have pulled the information when asked.

If she were something resembling a human being with “feelings”, she would not have republished the information once the students themselves removed it. Michelle is a vicious, vindictive, venomous egoist with no discernible ethics nor even a shred of human decency. If she wants to be The Minority Woman Who Believes Minorities and Women Suck, that’s her right. But she should at least have the integrity to acknowledge that she has done wrong and to stop compounding the wrong. And she should not give us that disingenuous crap about how she doesn’t condone death threats and nobody should misuse her posting and reposting of personal information.

  2. Liberal Thuggery ……

***Scroll down for alternative angle to the story and more*** … is escalating way out of control. I have been watching the unfolding drama of how the liberal left have attacked Michelle Malkin. Then I watched as she fought back, righteously so for th…

  3. I’m not sure what point you are trying to make “the mole”, or who your audience is. Michelle Malkin doesn’t read this little corner of the World Wide Web.

As far as I understand, the information was public, Malkin found it, republished it, and then it was deleted.
The Geek in me has little sympathy for “Hey, that’s private” when it was once public on internet servers. Cache or no cache.

But at the same time, I’m neither approving or disapproving what Malkin chose to do. I’m just recording my observations.

But I have little respect for name calling as well. Its like pointing fingers and saying “you suck” just to make a point.

  4. The “fascist” line is more played than Donkey Kong. Yes, it’s the new “Nazi”, and Godwin’s Law applies. I think it’s used to paint anyone who gets their way, when “their way” != “your way”

But then I suppose it’s no more inflamatory than “Moonbats”.

    Comment by Cisco — April 20, 2006 @ 3:27:21 PM

  5. You wouldn’t say that Moonbat fits in this case?
At least the definition is appropriate.

I’m not saying don’t use the term “Fascist”, but at least use it correctly.

  6. Blog Wars: swing and a miss from the left…

So, Michelle Malkin republishes contact info that was on the Internet, then has her own contact info (never previously published) put out by those who pulled the original content off the Net.
    It makes my head swim.
Anyway, Jeremy points to the IndyMedi…

  7. I see my “not equal to” symbol was stripped by your fascist blogware. A blatant attempt to discredit my comment.

(I had no idea that “moonbat” was any more legitimate than “Ciscofornia”. I stand edjumacated.)

    Comment by Cisco — April 20, 2006 @ 4:12:11 PM

  8. I fix it. != is not Equal.

And I can’t believe I’m quoting Wikapedia as a valid information source!
I blame, you, Cisco, of course.

    Comment by Jeremy — April 20, 2006 @ 4:14:48 PM

  9. != is not what I learned in math class. Look what the internet has done to you!!!

And it’s WIKIpedia, not WIKApedia. Maybe you’ve been going to the wrong one.

    Comment by Cisco — April 20, 2006 @ 5:00:34 PM

  10. Programing, Cisco. Programming. FORTRAN specifically.

Wiki, Wika, Wonka, its all crazy to me.

    Comment by Jeremy — April 20, 2006 @ 5:07:22 PM

  11. In programming there are 2 other not equals: <> and #. is the most common in my experience.

[Plugged in the ASCII codes - ed.]

    Comment by Dad — April 20, 2006 @ 5:13:45 PM

  12. It’s all language-dependent. In C++, and # are not defined until you define them as operators. In Perl and some other scripting languages, # begins an end-of-line comment.

Of course, in C#, its part of the language name, not an operator (again, unless you say so).
