Bush Lied! Er, I mean… Bush LIED!
Don’t look now. But there were chemical weapons found in Iraq.
Michelle Malkin has the information round-up. And more at WaPo
A point of contention:
This is certainly significant, but what they’re talking about is old munitions left over from, presumably, before the first Gulf War. This doesn’t appear to constitute evidence that Saddam’s regime had continued to manufacture chemical weapons in more recent years. What it does demonstrate is that the picture with respect to Iraq’s WMDs is much more nuanced than the usual “he didn’t have any” mantra. There is no doubt about the fact that Saddam had, and used, chemical and biological weapons. Nor is there any doubt about the fact that he eagerly pursued nuclear weapons. Further, the Iraq Survey Group report says that he had every intention of resuming his programs as soon as the coast was clear and the U.N. sanctions were behind him. Add to that the fact that hundreds of chemical weapons, at a minimum, were secreted in various locations around Iraq–as also shown by this document–and it is reasonable to conclude that, even though the CIA and nearly all other observers over-estimated Iraq’s WMD capabilities, the fear that Saddam might use such weapons, or slip them to a terrorist group, was well-founded.

Eh… I’m unexcited. Seems like splitting hairs on a topic that has expired. Everyone’s already made up their mind whether he lied or not, and short of finding a fleet of nuclear subs in a secret base under the Tigris, they aren’t changing. A handful (relatively) of left over chemical weapons stashed away like old cheese in the back of the fridge? Technically WMD’s, but still nothing that would have rallied us to go to war over.

The basis for beginning the War was the weapons program(s) that had begun post 1991 to the present day. A bunch of junk munitions from the Iran/Iraq war were known during Desert Storm. This was not classifed information as Bush appointed Weapons Inspector, David Kay confirmed these junk munitions in his 2004 report and advised that many more would be found, especially close to the Iran border. David Kay reiterated these facts today and verified that nothing was classfied about this. All top White House officials have admitted that no WMD’s were found including statements issued this morning (6/22). These were Weapons of Minor Discomfort. This has become the political cartoon of the day with Sean Hannity and Fox replacing Dan Rather as gullible Main Stream Media with an agenda. Did these people really believe the American people were this stupid? If it wasn’t so funny, it would be insulting.

Wow, seems we’ve touched a nerve with Trevor. Anyway, it’s blatantly obvious that Saddam had connections to terrorism, had chemical weapons, had used them in the past and would use them again if given the chance. Call it what you will now, but history will eventually tell that the world is better without Saddam. And, history will show President Bush to be a solid president that actually accomplished something.

No… They got him. They got Trevor.

No nerve touched. Nothing to pine for. Ignorance is CHOOSING to be stupid. I don’t rely on Liberal media to tell me the truth anymore than Right-wing media. The facts are the facts. Educate yourselves and then the rest of the World wouldn’t pine for you. You were passed by Brazil with Energy policy. Your borrowing billions of dollars on a daily basis from China to finance your war on terror. The conditions for our troops in Afghanistan are just as bad if not worse than in 2001 with all our troops in Iraq with it’s newly formed government telling us they want us out by the end of 2007 (cut and run…please!). General Casey’s report? Cut and Run!!! Sure beats the three years of Lie and Die. You all dive at at pathetic WMD’s claim like heroin addicted whores diving at an empty needle for a desperate attempt to pine for yourselves. The pining 37% The war will be coming to an end as the only way this country will be able to restore stability in this country is by getting the “liberators” the hell out. Now we have secterian violence where there was none before. Women are no longer aloud to enter college or the work force like they could before. The Chriatian and Jewish communities who could live in peace have all had to flee the country for their safety and security. An Imperialistic dictator who believed in a free-market economy has been replaced by an Islamic dictator with militias conducting crimes against humanity just as bad if not worse than Saddam’s secret police. But hey….we found 20 year old junk munitions!!! Whee!!! It’s obvious the insurgents didn’t want them. Maybe we can sell them on E-bay.

[/Keanu voice] Woah! [/keanu] Long explanation that didn’t address any of my point above. (There wasn’t any sectarian violence because all sects were being oppressed by Saddam except his.) I did enjoy the character attacks though.
Funny how we can call a cruel tyrrant of a dictator a better leader than a democratically elected government. Perhaps one’s own personal agenda is clouding the vision.
