BAH!
I think there were two different games at Lincoln Financial Field this Sunday.
The first three quarters, and the last 2 quarters (one of which was an overtime period)
BAH!
Needless to say, the Philadelphia Eagles lost to the New [Jersey] Giants.
The saddest thing is, the Eagles statistics suggest a different game.
The Eagles led in passing yards
The Eagles led in rushing yards
The Eagles led in receiving yards (different than passing, but that is just semantics)
The Eagles led in tackles
The Eagles had 8 sacks
The Eagles Defense had one interception, McNabb had zero.
The Eagles gave opportunities to NINE different receivers.
Up until Overtime, they led in time of possession.
All the makings of a sound Philadelphia victory.
Except the Giants STILL won.
BAH!
I came into the game at the top of the 4th Quarter. The Eagles were up 24-7. I was elated.
Then I heard the fumble, recovered in the Eagles Endzone. (I had to listen to Sirius as Fox decided not to air ANY football at that hour? BAH, this is Sunday, I don’t want to watch a Sunday Afternoon Movie!)
Then I saw the Eagles do nothing.
And the Giants do everything.
It wasn’t pretty, but it was effective.
It sounded like the Eagles were tired, and exhausted. Even after Jeremiah Trotter’s Intercepted tip, there was not momentum for the Eagles.
The Defense TRIED. It did, you could feel them try, but they were tired. I felt bad, seeing the offense go three-and-out, and nothing.
The Giants keyed in on Stallworth, he was a non-event in the 2nd half, and overtime.
Westbrook was next, and was pretty much shut down. Only Greg Lewis was producing much on Offense.
I called Joe and Ang, and they mocked me, after the game. I was sad. They were glad.
I now hate the Giants.
Go Seahawks!

There was no mocking, just sounds of Joy! It was one heck of a game to watch. I am glad to see that they won, but as you noted, it was all that pretty. You don’t have to be bitter and start cheering for the Seahawks, just keep it friendly, and root for the Eagles. See you again in week Dec 17 in the Swamplands of Jersey.

Jeremy: Once again, Andy Reid is paying the price for not having a bruising inside runner with whom to run the clock out.

I agree, though, the Eagles should have been using the Three-Headed Running Back formation (Westbrook, Bulkhalter, and Tapeh) in that quarter. Even though none of them are huge, its harder to defend against two or three running threats, than is is one.
But Tapeh isn’t a starter (or even third string) so he might not have known the patters to run by, with Mahe not playing that day.

The Iggles need a Deuce McAllister to Westbrook’s Reggie Bush-style player.

Yikes! And now the Freak (well one of them… Kerse) is out for the season with torn MCL, LCL, and PCL. I think that’s pretty much what Culpepper did last season.

BAH! is right.
And Kearse is the only Freak in my book.
While I like fast and strong defensive ends, they are really fragile.
