A Small Victory
As all of you should know, my all-time favorite team in all sports is the Philadelphia Eagles. I have followed them since the late 1980s through present.
They are not going to the Super Bowl this year.
As some of you might know, I have another football team I’ve been perennially fond of, and that is the New Orleans Saints.
They are going to the Super Bowl, this year, and have won the NFC Championship, defeating the defecting Favre and the Minnesota Vikings.
I don’t know why I started to like the Saints. My only exposure to them was when they played the Philadelphia Eagles (and usually defeated my Eagles at the same time.) But they were historically my underdog team. They had a decent defense (never the best, but often underrated, which I appreciated) and had a hard time winning games.
The first time I saw them play was probably 1989, when they beat the Eagles and spoiled the Eagles winning the NFCEast, so the birds had to settle on a wild-card, and the Giants won the division instead.
Then, during the Michael Vick Experience, in Atlanta, I loved watching the Saints beat up the Falcons.
My family can attest, I wore team colors for teams other than Philadelphia, in my adult-youth, the New Orleans Saints, and the San Francisco 49ers (the Joe Montana Niners; gotta love Joe!)
So, when I see the Saints holding up the NFC Championship Trophy, I smiled.
Who Dat!

I don’t love Joe. But I would like to see the Saints win. But the Saint’s have to play like they want to win. Not like that anemic second half they put in yesterday. Colts aren’t going to try as hard to give you the game as the Vikings did.
If Sean Payton finds his balls and the Saints get rolling, we should have a very exciting super bowl on our hands!

Well, I am cheering for Da Saints since they have Evans (Guard from BloomU, my alma mater) and Arrington (WR from Michigan). The Colts only have Hart (RB from Michigan)…have to go with the hometown boy from Philly and BloomU…Let’s go Saints!!!
So a Peyton vs a Drew….hmmmmm
I still remember you in those sweatshirts, you wore them all the time, the 49ers and the Saints.

I was asking myself the same thing G.B.
(Ang is referencing this old article on Only QBs with Short, Masculine, names win Super Bowls.
Joe, Bart, Bob, John, Jim, Tom, Jeff, Roger, Steve, Trent, Brad, Ben, Phil, Mark, Doug, Ken, Brett and *shudder* Troy…
Exceptions have been Peyton, Terry, Eli and Troy.

The real question is how good will the commercials be? (I’m sure that is what you were implying when you say a Peyton vs. a Drew…)

Yes, The-Evil-Doctor Merlin-Channing-Lowe-Jr., Drew and Peyton are codewords for Budweister and Pepsi.
Barry is a codeword for Reebok. And Flank is a codeword for GoDaddy.
I personally think that Iron (as in Iron McBroadsides) will have the best commercial this year.

[...] As Cisco suggested, Sean Peyton brought the right play book to the game. [...]
