The U.N. has a blog now?
Say it aint so? And its published by out-of-work staffers from the Campaign for the The haughty French-looking Massachusetts Democrat who by-the-way also served in Vietnam!
Check it out: U.N. Dispatch – dot- com
I wonder if I’ll be on their blogroll of Moral Authority?

About UN Dispatch
UN Dispatch is a blog intended to promote thoughtful discussion about the UN, and to provide an outlet for important news and views on the UN. It is administered by Peter Daou, author of the Daou Report, and will feature frequent posts from knowledgeable guest contributors. UN Dispatch is sponsored by the United Nations Foundation, though the views expressed herein do not represent the official views of the United Nations Foundation, or the UN. Links from UN Dispatch to other blogs and websites should not be construed as an endorsement of the content on those sites.
So what is “thoughtful discussion” and “knowledgable guest contributors”?
If this article on The Unfair attacks on the Oil-fo-Food Program by a far-right-leaning Cable News Service, by “Media Matters” – a far-left-leaning-Watchdog group, is an example, I think I know what they mean.
This gem makes me smile,
UN Dispatch is sponsored by the United Nations Foundation, though the views expressed herein do not represent the official views of the United Nations Foundation
Translation: We speak for the U.N. Foundation, except when we screw up, or when we attack other opinions/viewpoints/perspectives.
And no, this isn’t going on the blogroll.
And Jeremy-Gilby-dot-com does not endorse either this website, or the moral authority of the United Nations.
[/end disclaimer]
By the way, Kofi Annan is trying to remind the world that the United Nations is important (Yeah, I almost forgot about them too) over on the Wall Street Journal’s Opinion-Journal-dot-com (Free Registration Required)
Most of it is mindless banter. Please pity him.
Update: Great Quote from Wizbang:
Thanks to Peter Daou for the heads up, but UN Dispatch is not a blog. UN Dispatch is a slick UN operation to put out press releases and Kofi Annan ego stroking stories; masquerading as a blog.

Pathetic…I really wish the UN would just go away.

Randy, Before there was a UN, countries didn’t talk before taking action or in the case of the European Jews, no action. A forum for talking is better than the alternative. The UN was not formed as an organization for action which is probably a good thing.
We regreatfully find ourselves with a UN leadership that has brought the corruption from their contires to the world stage and really don’t understand what all the fuss is. It is a rude awakening to visit a country where 5% of the population has 95% of the wealth and the 5% make it so it can’t be changed.

Thanks Jeremy’s Dad. I like the idea of it being a communications avenue but they really really stink at any kind of action oriented body.

It’s in their charter Randy. They are not allowed to take action and if they find themselves in action, they must leave immediately. Their peace keeping forces are only allowed to stay if there is peace.
The press and the left make Bush look like he circumvented the UN when in fact, he did it just right except for the part about going it alone but we know that wasn’t his fault. He knew it was the right thing to do and now others are seeing the vision materialize. The UN membership imposed requirements on Sadam in the 80s which were violated to the point that the talking was obviously over. The UN’s job was then completed until the country is stable enough for UN peace keepers to go in if they are needed. Clinton did the same thing in Bosnia and now the UN is monitoring the peace between the factions that still exist. If the civil war were to break out again, the UN would leave for the US and its alies to clean up again if we so choose.
