010000000 Days Later

From the "So-can-Kerry-now-run-with-a-clean-conscience-in-2008?" Department

Recently, I hinted that The haughty french-looking Massachusetts Democrat, who by-the-way also served in Vietnam was slow to Release his Military Records, which he Promised to Release on Meet the Depressed, back on January 30, 2005.

Well, 010000000 days later (note, this is Geek-Fu for 128 days), The Boston Globe reports that Kerry has done just that; or we THINK he did.

WASHINGTON — Senator John F. Kerry, ending at least two years of refusal, has waived privacy restrictions and authorized the release of his full military and medical records.

The records, which the Navy Personnel Command provided to the Globe, are mostly a duplication of what Kerry released during his 2004 campaign for president, including numerous commendations from commanding officers who later criticized Kerry’s Vietnam service.

The lack of any substantive new material about Kerry’s military career in the documents raises the question of why Kerry refused for so long to waive privacy restrictions. An earlier release of the full record might have helped his campaign because it contains a number of reports lauding his service. Indeed, one of the first actions of the group that came to be known as Swift Boat Veterans for Truth was to call on Kerry to sign a privacy waiver and release all of his military and medical records.

So why DID The haughty, French-looking Massachusetts Democrat, who by the way delivered weapons to the Khmer Rouge wait SO long?
The always entertaining James Taranto might have found the solution:

A C Man in the Navy
On Jan. 30, John Kerry told NBC’s Tim Russert that he would release his full military records to the public, something he had refused to do during last year’s campaign. It took 128 days, but today the Boston Globe reports that he had done so. The records revealed what many of us had suspected: Kerry served in Vietnam. But according to the Globe, “the lack of any substantive new material about Kerry’s military career in the documents raises the question of why Kerry refused for so long to waive privacy restrictions.”

A second Globe story, however, answers that question. Included in Kerry’s military files were his transcripts from Yale, which were part of his application for officer training. Kerry, it turns out, had a 76 average for his years at Yale–the equivalent of a C and one point below George W. Bush’s 77 average. Kerry had a difficult freshman year, scoring four D’s, though he did manage a C in French.

WHAT? The highly educated and Nuanced Junior Senator from Massachusetts showed less measured aptitude than the dumb-hick who is also President of the United States?

I’m shocked!

Michelle Malkin continues, citing The U.S.S. Neverdock

Kerry did not explain his reference to “what isn’t in the record,” though questions arose late in the campaign about why he received his honorable discharge six years after leaving the service…

…We need someone else to do a Form 180 request and we need to know if Kerry signed Part III of that form.

AND
We don’t see any reason for The haughty french-looking Massachusetts Democrat, who by-the-way took eight-days-longer to release his military records than to actually serve 120-days in Vietnam’s discharge.

So the fun isn’t over.

And check out this embarassment in Photography.

And check out The Commissar’s Antics.

Its as much fun as before the election!

  1. You’ve got to love this…

“I’m going to sit down with them and make sure that they are clear and I am clear as to what is in the record and what isn’t in the record and we’ll put it out,” he [Kerry] told “Meet the Press” host Tim Russert

Translation: I need an opportunity to change my record or make sure that certain things aren’t in there before I “release” them.

Funny that as a medical professional, if I were to restrict release of my records or alter them as to convey a certain spin before a judge/jury I might as well get out my check book and write out the malpractice check. But, I forget, Kerry is smarter than that with his 76% and all.
