My Name is Jeremy R. Gilby; I was born in Hatfield, Pennsylvania on June 13, 1974, and lived in the “really greater Philadelphia area” for 21 years of my life. The Best way to describe my hometown is the Suburbs of the Suburbs of Philadelphia. I lived in a populous community, made of multiple smaller communities and towns, the largest of which totaled 7000 people. For a “small town” atmosphere, one got to know a lot of people from various walks of life: Farmers, Business Men, Blue Collar, White Collar, Teachers, Clergy, Politicians, Entrepreneurs, Journalists, and even Morticians.

I went to Pennridge High School and graduated from there in 1992. I moved to Tucson, Arizona in early 1996 to pursue an education in Astronomy, and have lived here ever since.

Currently, I’m single, not looking, and perhaps that will change, perhaps it will not. I’m enigmatic that way.

In my years as an employed human being, I’ve worked several occupations, and performed some very unconventional on-the-job, or volunteer tasks:

  • Computer Beta Tester
  • Network Administrator
  • Financial Administrator
  • Fast Food Geek
  • Storeroom Guru
  • Cleaner of the Ladies Restroom
  • Grocery Store Bagger (one of the best in Pennsylvania)
  • Grocery Store Cashier (one of the faster in South East Pennsylvania)
  • Grocery Store Grocery Clerk
  • Extracurricular Security Personnel
  • Semi-Professional Shop Lifter
  • Professional Musician
  • Professional Student
  • Turtoring Slave
  • Dishwasher
  • Sorority Slave
  • Web Site Designer
  • Technical Support Guru
  • Support Specialist
  • Product Specialist
  • Web Site Administrator
  • Database Geek
  • Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Process Excellence Slave
  • Corporate Account Slave
  • Professional Geek
  • Technical Leader
  • Research Analyst
  • Middle Man

I define myself as a Geek, not to be self-depreciating, but to be realistic. I distinguish between what a Geek is, and what a “Nerd” is. Nerds are smart people, brilliant, bright, great with technical things, but they don’t know beans about social skills or personal interaction.

Geeks, on the other hand, are more social animals. Not the greatest social icons of the world, mind you, but they can hold their own in social settings, and almost appear normal in everyday situations.

For more, see About Geeks.

After I moved to Arizona, I met Jesus Christ.
For more of this experience, please read My Personal Testimony

Outside of the above extraordinary experiences, I’m a pretty normal “kid in the desert”. I love my life, I love where I live, and I love the people around me. (And I even like my job) I don’t think I can ask for much more, but I’m sure there is some down the road.
